The Travel Edition

Weh mi deh?

I’m going to the middle of the world

Time flies, just last year this time I was shuttling back and forth from the Brazillian Consulate trying to secure a passport for Brazil to go to Carnaval. That was a great trip and would do it again in a heartbeat. But a new year means a new country and while South America has been done a few →

10 Things not to do in NY

If you're planning a trip to New York City, you need travel advice from someone who knows her way around. Because while there's a lot to do in New York City—plenty of iconic places to eat and drink and see—there are also a lot of things not to do: Crowded tourist traps, overhyped eateries, and not-so-authentic experiences are among the →

First stop, Buenos Aires

Wow, I'll be in the air in less than 12 hours. Flying on Friday the 13th is no reason to be nervous right? I wonder if in flight entertainment will include Jason or Freddy.

Passport Pictures: Check

Its been a while since I've actually had to take passport pictures and quite a bit has changed since the old days. Before you would have to go to a studio that does passport pictures, have the picture taken and wait an hour to have the pictures developed. Now it can be done at pretty much any major →

Hmmm, so I need a visa

Ok, so flights booked, accommadations booked for Rio, whats next...? Visa! According to Brazil Consulate web site, US citizens need a visa to enter Brazil and aslo pay more than other countries for processing. "U.S. passport holders must pay a processing fee of US130.00 in reciprocity for an identical fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply for a tourist visa to the →

South America ’09 Announced!!!

This will be the biggest trip ever... Brazil Carnival '09!!! Brazil Carival has been on my list of things to do for a long time and even more so since going to carnival in Trinidad. The itinerary as of now will have regular crew; Josh, Mike and myself travelling to Buenos Aires, Argentina on February 13th where we →

8 Hour walk and no electricity

It seems like I start each day with getting up early.  This kinda sucks cause I’m vacation but getting up earlier than I would for work.  Anyway, there is a bus picking us up at 7:30, so again it’s another early morning.  We run downstairs for a quick breakfast of cheese, bread and cereal.  We are barely finished when we →

Puerto Natales Pt. 1

Whoever said a good nights rest is over rated was lying.  Being able to get a full eight hours of rest was refreshing.  I got up around 9:00 AM and went to take a shower.  After my shower I went downstairs to meet up with Josh who was just finishing breakfast of bread, cheese and ham, which seems to be →

March of the Penguins

We overslept the next morning after having a late night out and had to quickly gather our stuff and head out missing the complimentary hotel breakfast.  Juan Carlos even showed up earlier than we had asked him to causing us to rush a little bit more.  We got downstairs and Juan brought the car around.  We jumped in and →

Santiago, playing one night only

The flight to Santiago was pretty uneventful and after an exciting night I couldn’t be happier.  The seniors who were flying into Santiago to catch a cruise ship were extremely happy as the pilot announced that the cruise line would be waiting for them to arrive.  I entertained myself on this looooong flight by reading, sleeping, listening to music and →

Have a nice flight

The rest of the night went by without incident.  The 7:00 AM wake up call came in as scheduled.  Hopes were high that this day would turn out to be better.  I took a quick shower, got ready and headed downstairs to meet the other guys and catch the shuttle bus back to the airport.   We got to the airport and →

And its gets better…

That 12:40 delay I mentioned earlier... forget about that. Apparently beacuse of the delay, the pilot cannot fly anymore as the amount of rest he is required to get would not have been met and the flight will now have to be delayed till 9:00 AM. No problem, we´ll get vouchers for hotels right, except everyone on →

Doesn´t look like we´re gonna make it

My flights in Miami and the connecting flight leaves 11:20 and the others aren´t here yet. It would take a miracle for this to work. Looks like we´ll be spending the day in Miami. At least the agents understand the situation and says it will be no proble to change my flight till the next day. Wait! fone´s ringing, buddies just →

Can I say AA sucks!

Just have to get this out, American Airlines sucks! Ok, thats out. Now here´s why. The flight to Santiago should have been at 7:20 PM from NY to MIA arriving at 10:30 and then an 11:20 from MIA to Santiago. They delayed the 7:20 till 8:00 which means we would miss our connection and the next flight wouldn´t be till →

South America or bust

Well, folks its time again for me to embark on another adventure.  This time to the far regions of South. America.  This trip includes Chile where we'll be starting in Santiago and then fly futher south to Puntas Arenas, which is very close to the end of the world.  We'll work our way back north via car/bus/taxi or whatever means we can →

Caribana 2006!!!

As if the picture didn't say enuff, Caribana 2006 was wicked!!!                 It was a quick 3 day weekend but packed with parades, parties, a boat cruise with "special" guest star Snow and lots of ladies putting on some piece a wining in the skimpiest of clothing. The day started off at 3:00 AM when I woke up to get ready so I →
